Rules & Info
The goal of our awards are to recognize the outstanding work that many of the fans do for all the rest of us fans out there. Day after day we see artwork, fiction, manips, and more provided to us by those around us in the fandom, and we would like to show all the makers of these our gratitude!

Under the cut you'll find a list of rules and more detailed information regarding the timeline, categories, and procedures for this awards process. We'd like to get as many fans involved as possible, so please share us with all of your friends!

  • Nominations and panel applications accepted: November 25 - December 17
  • Panel members are selected: December 18
  • Panel assignments are sent out: December 19
  • Panel voting is open: December 19 - January 7
  • Public voting is open: January 8 - January 22
  • Awards posted: January 22 - January 29
Rules & Guidelines
  1. Please do not vote for or nominate yourself. While we do thing each and every author deserves recognition, please refrain from nominating yourself, as those nominations will be immediately discarded. Please acknowledge those around you for all that they do!
  2. You may nominate as many times as you would like. That being said, if we believe that you are nominating too many things, or are spamming our inbox/nomination post, we will send you a message informing you of such. You have plenty of time to nominate, there is no need to do it all at once!
  3. This is a purely Glee awards fest! This means we will NOT be accepting crossover art or fics. AUs are fine, but crossovers are not.
  4. Panel members are allowed to vote in public voting as well. Panel members are gracious enough to do a round of voting to make things easier for the general public, and we would like to reward them!
  5. Authors and artists may be nominated for multiple works. Nominations are what give us the large population of work out there. Panel members narrow it down to the top five for each voting, so while an author or artist might be nominated several times, their work might only make it to the final round once!
  6. An author or artist may choose to have their work withdrawn from the voting. If they do not want their work shared in this way, we respect that and will pull their work(s) from the voting.
  7. We will notify all authors and artists if their work is nominated. We do this at nomination time versus post-panel time so we can withdraw any nominations before the top five for each category are chosen.
  8. You must have a link to the original work! Sending us a vague photohosted image or word document of a piece of fiction will not be enough. Fic must be linked to either a meme fill thread, tumblr post, livejournal post, or other post that was posted by the original artist/author of the work. Any nominations without a link to the original post will be immediately discarded.
  9. Nominations are accepted both here and on Tumblr! The nomination page will link to our journal and our Tumblr so you can apply at whichever is most convenient for you.
  10. Panel applications are also accepted both here and on Tumblr. Links to both ways to submit will be posted on our panel application post.
Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is a panel member? What do they do? Panel members are each assigned a category (or two) in which they read/look over each nomination in a category and choose the five best nominations. The number of panel members voting for each category will vary depending on the number of applicants we get. A minimum of two panel members will choose the top five in each category to avoid bias.
  • How do I become a panel member? We have a post here where you can apply to be a panel member. It more closely details the timeline, tasks, and expectations of panel members. You may volunteer to choose for as many as you have time for.
  • What if the fiction/art I want to nominate doesn't fit into a category? If the work(s) you'd like to nominate don't fall into one of our pre-existing categories, please send us a message and let us know! We want to work with you so each and every work out there has the opportunity to be recognized.
  • Where is it easiest to contact a mod? The two of us will be checking both the LiveJournal account and the Tumblr account daily. Sending an ask or submit on Tumblr works, though it may be unreliable. Sending a private message here or posting your question in response to this post are both acceptable ways to contact us as well.
  • Can my community affiliate with you? Sure! We're open to affiliating with anyone! We'd love to get the word out about our awards and any help you'd like to provide is absolutely wonderful. If you are interested in affiliating, please just post a comment to this journal entry.
  • Can I nominate real person fiction? Sure! This award fest is open to all kinds of different fics and artwork. We welcome everything!

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please post them to this entry! All comments are screened.

are we allowed to nominate WIPs? will they have a different category than finished works? (i mean fanfiction specifically)

Re: WIPs?
Yes! You are allowed to nominate WIPs. We have had some nominated already, and the mods have decided to add a separate WIP category for them. All WIPs will be placed into one category regardless of ship or genre. Thanks for your question!

Re: WIPs?
Great, thanks for answering! One more question, for now: what about series? Is there a way to nominate an entire series, or do we need to do individual stories?

Re: WIPs?
Do you mean if there's a fic, and then a sequel, etc.?
With those, so far we have had one person mention that it's a series but then nominated their favorite part of the series. So for right now, please do this. If we get enough of this type of fic nominated, we will create its own category. We are taking note of these fics as they are nominated.

So, I could post a comment about your 2011 Glee Awards which would then become available to (friends of my journal?? I don't know. I've never posted anything. I generally just comment on other people's fics and videos, etc.) But, in any case, that would increase the number of people who know about your contest and, supposedly, bring in a lot more nominations.

However, I would never do this if 1- you don't want me too b'c it should only be posted in gleeslash or 2- you know it should not be posted in any other community.

So, this is me asking if you would like me to do that.

Just let me know when you get a chance!!

So to be clear, you'd be posting an advert for it on your personal journal?
If that's what you want to do, feel free, as many times as you'd like!

We've been advertising in tons of different Glee communities as well as on Tumblr. We're amazed with the response so far but we'd love even more nominations from readers! Definitely feel free to spread the word via your journal, but we just ask that you leave the community promos to us :)

That's the only part I have a question about, in the sense (as I mentioned) that I've never posted anything to anyone before (i.e., all my journal entries have been 'private').

So, in order to NOT post to communities, but post to just individual friends (b'c I'm pretty sure communities are just clumped in as friends when I look at my entire list of friends) how would I go about doing that?

I want to help -- I don't want to overstep.

And, honestly, I'm not (quite) as stupid as this is making me look -- it's simply that I've never done it even once so I have no idea what I'm doing.

Oh! All you need to do is click post at the top underneath your username. This should default to posting to your personal journal, but to double check, just make sure it says Post to: and then in the drop down menu, you choose your journal.

Then it will be viewable to anybody that has added you as a friend. It will show up on their friend list. It won't show up to any communities, though. Not unless you click on that community's name in the 'Post to' drop down menu.

Does that clarify things a little? Let me know if you need any other help :)

I forgot to write back and thank you for your help!

Now I know how to post. It's actually really easy; I just didn't know what everyone was doing. But, just as promised, I sent out a comment to all friends re the Awards, giving the link & mentioning that the more that people vote, the more it would maximize the results (and also give you a better/wider selection from which to choose.)

Thanks again for your help! (I hope my friends tell their friends, and so one, and so on...)

We're glad you figured it out!

Thank you so much for all your help and spreading the word and such! We appreciate it! Hopefully all of your friends can nominate, and then vote when the time comes! :)

series question
hey, i'm super glad we can nominate series now, but i was wondering how we were supposed to nominate it - just link to the first part? some of them don't have a master post.
2011gleeawards2011gleeawards on December 4th, 2011 10:21 pm (UTC)
Re: series question
Yep, just link to the first part. We should be able to find the rest from there! Thanks :)

Why groupsex fics aren't in the categories anymore ?
2011gleeawards2011gleeawards on December 17th, 2011 09:24 pm (UTC)
We took away the groupsex category because we got no nominations for it, and they're usually best suited to one of the PWP categories, mostly because most groupsex fics are either entirely male or entirely female, thus fitting into one of the slash or femslash groupings.
